GORDON KOANG Y DAH (SLEEP D REMIX)

After sharing the first taste of his forthcoming remix EP last month, South Sudan’s Gordon Koang is back today with Sleep D's remix of 'Y Dah', out on non-profit Aussie label Music in Exile. A bouncy synth bass and reverb drum sounds echo the sound of the 80's, whilst Koang's Sudanese vocals flourish over the top. Abundant use of percussion makes this track, a particularly dancey one, embellished with the outlandish synth layers. Sleep D says of working on the remix: “We used Gordon's sounds and melodies, and remade it with our own. We wanted to keep the original feeling of the song but reinterpreted in our kind of sound world, which we thought was what a remix should be for this track. It actually worked quite naturally, we kind of got it in the first iteration of it, it seemed to work well and was a lot of fun.”. Check out the new remix here! -Ellie Rose-Davies
